Chemical Kinetics – Rate Laws & Arrhenius Equation Online

Chemical kinetics examines how fast reactions occur and which factors control those rates. This simulation focuses on rate law determination, Arrhenius behavior, and catalyst effects — distinct from the mechanistic step-by-step view in the reaction-kinetics simulator. Manipulate temperature and concentration to extract rate constants and reaction orders from concentration-time data.

What you can do in this simulation

  • Choose first-, second-, or zero-order reactions and observe characteristic concentration-time curves
  • Vary temperature and extract activation energy from ln(k) vs. 1/T Arrhenius plots
  • Add a catalyst and see activation energy decrease while the rate constant increases
  • Determine reaction order graphically using integrated rate law linearization
  • Compare half-lives for different reaction orders as initial concentration changes
