Ideal Gas Law Simulator — PV, TV, PT Diagrams Interactive
This ideal gas simulator lets you explore PV = nRT with five gas types — helium, nitrogen, oxygen, CO₂, and water vapor — using animated particles in a resizable piston-cylinder container. Lock any variable (P, V, or T) and adjust the others to observe the corresponding gas law: Boyle's, Charles's, or Gay-Lussac's. A live graph traces state history as PV, TV, or PT diagrams. The bottom panel shows the ideal gas equation with calculated values and molecular properties including internal energy U, v_rms, and degrees of freedom.
What you can do in this simulation
- Choose from 5 gases: He, N₂, O₂, CO₂, H₂O
- Lock pressure, volume, or temperature to explore each gas law
- Adjust amount (0.1–5 mol) and temperature (50–1000 K) or pressure (0.1–10 atm)
- Switch between PV, TV, and PT diagram views
- View molecular data: internal energy, v_rms, and degrees of freedom
