Water Treatment — Purification Process Simulator

Water treatment converts raw surface or groundwater into safe drinking water through a sequence of physical and chemical processes that remove pathogens, suspended solids, and dissolved contaminants. This simulation models a conventional treatment train — coagulation and flocculation, sedimentation, rapid sand filtration, and chlorination — letting you adjust chemical doses at each stage and track the resulting turbidity and pathogen removal. Reaching regulatory limits for turbidity and residual chlorine is the design goal.

What you can do in this simulation

  • Adjust coagulant dose and observe floc formation and turbidity reduction in sedimentation
  • Set filter media depth and backwash schedule and track filtered turbidity over a run cycle
  • Control chlorine dose and contact time to achieve target log-reduction of pathogens
  • Track running treatment cost per cubic meter as chemical doses change
  • Observe how a turbidity spike from a storm event challenges each treatment stage
