Electric Fields Simulator — Interactive Charges & Potential
This electric field simulator lets you place positive and negative point charges on a canvas and instantly visualize the resulting field in four modes: field lines, vector arrows, equipotential contours, and a potential heat map. Seven built-in presets cover single charge, dipole, quadrupole, two positive charges, parallel plates, triangle arrangement, and ring of charge. A measurement probe reads |E|, V, Ex, and Ey at any canvas position on hover.
What you can do in this simulation
- Place positive charges with click, negative with Shift+click; drag to reposition
- Switch between Field Lines, Vectors, Potential map, and Equipotential modes
- Choose from 7 preset configurations including dipole and parallel plates
- Adjust charge magnitude (1–20 nC) and field line density with sliders
- Use measurement probe to read field strength and potential at any point
Concepts covered
electric field · electric potential · Coulomb's law · equipotential lines · field lines · electrostatics
