Quantum Tunneling Lab
Quantum Tunneling Simulator — Wave Mechanics & Transmission
This quantum tunneling simulator shows wave mechanics across one to three potential barriers with incident (blue), evanescent (purple), and transmitted (green) waves animated on a dark canvas. A dashed horizontal line marks particle energy E, and gray rectangles represent the barriers. The transmission coefficient T, reflection R, and decay constant κ are displayed as live overlays that update whenever barrier or energy parameters change. Use multiple barriers to explore resonant tunneling effects.
What you can do in this simulation
- Adjust barrier height (1–25), barrier width (1–10), and particle energy (0.5–20)
- Switch between 1, 2, or 3 barriers to explore resonant tunneling
- Watch incident, evanescent, and transmitted wave amplitudes update in real time
- Read transmission coefficient T, reflection R, and decay constant κ as live overlays
- Pause and resume the wave animation
